Stories Of Friendships

Darren n I watched two more of the 12 DVDs we bought in Bali on Saturday afternoon. There wasn't anything interesting to watch on tv that day so we watched the DVDs instead.

The 1st movie we watched was The Hottie & The Nottie, starring Paris Hilton. It was really funny and the story was mainly about this hot girl n a totally fugly girl who are really close friends ever since kindy. Well, here's a few photos that Darren edited specially for this post..

.. The girls at age 6 n a few years later at age 26. Still friends n they're also roommates now. Christabel Abbott (the Hottie) and June Phigg (the Nottie).

.. This pic shows the wonders that cinema make up artists can produce. This is Christine Lakin who plays June Phigg. Before n after photos of her transformation from a beauty to a beast.

The 2nd movie we watched was Son Of Rambow. It was also a story about friendship but this time it was between a 'religious' boy n a school rebel. It is a Brit movie n most of the main cast are kids n teens. Oh ya.. guess what? The Gossip Girl star, Ed Westwick (who acted as Chuck Bass) is in the movie as well.

All I can say is that Darren n I are really good at picking out random movies bcus out of all the DVDs we've watched so far.. they were awesome!

The Hottie & The Nottie

Nate Cooper has been smitten with Cristabel Abbott since he first laid eyes on her at the impressionable age of six. But before he could try and snuggle up to her at nap time, or maybe send her a valentine, his family moved away. In the intervening years there have been other women in Nate's life, but none who could measure up to Cristabel. Convinced she's the only girl for him, Nate decides to move back to L.A. and track her down. The good news: she's still single and stunning. The bad news: there's a reason she's still single. Cristabel's still best friends with the same less fortunate little girl Nate remembers from first grade, June Phigg. The two are inseparable. They live together. They go to yoga together. They would even go on double dates together--if only June could get a date. Cristabel simply refuses to leave dear June home alone. Determined to spend as much time as possible with Cristabel, Nate sets out to find a boyfriend for June. Even when he pays them, however, guys all flee at the sight of her. Then it hits him: June needs a makeover. As Nate and June become friends she emerges from her cocoon, and Nate slowly realizes that the girl of his dreams isn't the hottie at all. It's the nottie who turns out to be something of a hottie herself.

Son Of Rambow

In 1980's Britain, young Will Proudfoot is raised in isolation among The Brethren, who regard themselves as God's 'chosen ones' and their strict moral code means that Will has never been allowed to mix with the other 'worldlies,' listen to music or watch TV. When Will encounters his first movie, a pirated copy of "Rambo: First Blood," his imagination is blown wide open. Now, Will sets out to join forces with the seemingly diabolical school bully, Lee Carter, to make their own action epic, devising wildly creative, on-the-fly stunts, not to mention equally elaborate schemes for creating a movie of total commitment and non-stop thrills while hiding out from The Brethren. When school popularity finally descends on Will and Lee in the form of, oui, the super-cool French exchange student, Didier Revol, their remarkable new friendship and precious film are pushed, quite literally, to the breaking point.
